Silver Duane Tackett passed away 8:19 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, IN.

Silver was born July 28, 1937 in Paintsville, Kentucky the son of Mallie and Charlie Tackett.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Alice Tackett; daughters, Phyllis Ryan (husband, Richard) Cocoa, Florida, Melvina Hirst, Muncie, Mary Blair, Muncie Sylvia Norris, Muncie, Charlene Tackett (deceased); sons, Duane Tackett (wife, Patricia) Muncie, Troy Tackett (wife, Valarie), Farmland, Tim Tackett (wife, Karita), Muncie; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and his much loved family members in Kentucky.

Silver worked at William Baileys Steel factory in Springfield, Ohio for many years. He hauled gas for Texaco Oil Company and was an avid dirt track race car driver in Kentucky. Silver was an avid fisherman and loved working on cars with his sons. He also loved his scratch off lottery tickets. He brought a lot of joy too many people’s lives. He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2015 at Muncie Church of Christ and Christian Union, 1704 E 23rd St., Muncie, IN.
